BLACKMAIL has been rockin the motor city since 2006!! The band consist of lead guitarist Mike Brooks, singer Mayaasa, bassist Akmed(big el) ElShabazz, & drummer Doug Austin, we play funk infested, bluesy/hard rock, & have jammed @ the ritz, tokken lounge, blind pig, alvins, old miami, bullfrog, majestic, elmerald theatre,old miami & many more of the D.'s best venues. We've aldo been featured on funk gumbo radio & pluto radio in California & tap.detroit, 89x(homeboy show) & urban rock radio here in detroit. Our cd " the hard groove" is avalible on i-tunes

| | blackmail what up!!! the 2nd annual cosmic slop festival was OFF THE HOOK!!!! a truely amazing event with so many talented acts, Medisin Wheel, Audfeed, Nuroksol, Rain of Kings, Final Cue, Michael Turner, some members of the P-funk all stars showed up to jam, it was a magical day. We made a lot of new friends & reconnected with old ones. some of us are going to start doing shows 2gether, Blackmail is playing with N2 submission on sept.14th & Medisin Wheel on oct.5th. The beautiful thing about this was that it shows ithe DIY spirit, if ya can't get into the big corporate rock festivals, you can start your own & have even more fun & play with bands that actually have talent & passion, rather than bands that just got in 'cause they paid a fee & know the promoter , 07:49 - Comment |

| | blackmail Wazzup!!!! everyone, so sorry i've been away, i'm on the board for the cosmic slop festival ( i've been contacting & scheduleing acts) & i've been handling my band's bookings, so it's been hectic. 1st, our show 2 new way bar a couple of weeks back rooocked!!!! CrashDollz is one of the most intense, kick ass bands out there, White Shag rooocked!! & of course Blackmail did our thang!! then we were back @ U'detroit downtown aug.3 for DetroitMusic.Tv where we rocked a set online (thx 2 everyone who tuned in) last weekend we returned to I-rock on the east side & jammed with some great bands, everyone should check out 5th Wall Concept, they are an AWESOME!!! band, & last this weekend we're jammin @ the 2nd annual Cosmic Slop Festival with over 30 great hard-n-heavy-funky-bluesy rock acts, we go on @ 10pm, it's @ artist village on17336 lasher in Detroit, the fest is from noon- 2am with musi, food, poets, art, & dancers!!!! whew!!!!!! , 13:51 - Comment over the top likes this |
