Is this the future of music? People jumping into neon suites to hyped up drum machine beats? Any studio can produce beats that sound like that and people pay $20 to $50 bucks a ticket to see this!
It's sad but bands that spend years on an album are being replaced by DJ'S and Drum Machines but what are you doing to do? Don't hate the player hate the game right? If you can't beat them join them is the thought but Major cities are jamin anything from heavy metal to hard core rap while the smaller markets that make up a large part of listeners enjoy country and mainstream music. So where did all this electronic music come from and where is it going.
We can thank the 80's for this back when keyboards were heard more than guitars but now even the hardest or rap or rock bands use electronic based innovation to maintain there sound and evolve. Even country and mainstream artists representing the rest of the industry i.e to many music categories to mention have included drum beats, odd keyboard sounds and a DJ like approach to their best albums!
We all want to dance with someone hot, maybe part till the sun rises! Does it really matter if it's a band, DJ, Robot or Jukebox that provides that entertainment as long as we have fun right! The boss is the end user and what fans and those seeking a fun time select becomes the trend, the industry, i.e if your a band your reality!
Even Jack White sounds like some rapper from the hood and his albums are flying off the digital shelf! Can't blame the guy really! Make a flashy drum beat, put a slick guitar line to it and put some rock flow it and you have a number hit single!
Why site down and write hundreds of songs and work your fingers in the bone when the public just wants to hear more drum machines and people trying to sound like rap artist.
If you carefully watch the really smart rap artist ( I love all forms of music and I'm eagerly watching what's happening in music ) If you watch the top artist they are even going out of their way to sound more rock and to spice up their sound to enhance it's impact!
What's the bottom line to this? Re-invent yourself and expose the game! Look if you love music maybe being a DJ could be your calling! Hot woman, music, fun times and money don't hurt anyone right? I know of a stage member here who is an outstanding singer, acoustic guitar player, rapper, hip hop artist and was looking for a band. After it was all said and done he's getting into being A DJ and I wouldn't be shocked if he becomes was on the best in the industry! This still don't take away from how good his is as an artist.
I've advised him to contact professionals in the industry for placing his songs because of how good his music is and I'm sure over time he will but it just goes to show you how rapidly the landscape of the music world changes.
It's a big world out there and with 197 countries changing how they party, have fun and create concerts from the band, internet, fan and vendor perspective what the future holds is a wild card. The music industry is changing almost daily and Some of these changes for the good, some forever ruining what's sacred about music as we know it!
You next studio project, have you hit a wall with bands no problem! Go to your nearest inner city or Rap factory and have them show you some beats already done with bass, key's, and lay down some banging vocal lines to it, maybe some Nirvana guitar and boom now your on tour!
Look It's really simple, it's not confusing! If your confused than your blind to what's happening! Why not join the game, get laid, get paid and live your dreams! Right isn't that what this is all about or did I miss something?
The days of musicians cutting their teeth over their craft are still alive and well but the trends are horrible! Yes insulting actually! Just put a button and buy a new program ( ANY PROGRAM ) and you too can bang out some killer DJ Sounding music and if you put some spice on it, some Barbecue sauce on it i.e guitar, some crazy keyboard effects etc then you too can make a hit!
Hey if you want to be an even bigger hit wear a mask and make a video that goes viral people love that even more! My point here is Music is still alive and kicking but the first nail is in the coffin!
I predict in 50 years people will all be DJ'S And Part of some 3D Dimensional live streaming dance sounding, drum machine, computer generated songwriting program that samples sounds from this era when people actually knew how to play!
I'm not bitter, just shedding light on a future that I hope never happens but probably will and that's sad but hey we can all be rock stars this way so that's not bad! If you watch the new trend of people i.e fans making 200 videos for a new song that's just released etc it's funny to watch people's videos but what's even more impressive is 3 billion of people that watch them! Again pointing to a trend yet again that has nothing to do with a musician, sad but it's the trend!
